  • Region 3 Lending Library - We have over 140 books, and more than 50 videos, DVDS and CD-ROMS available for foster parents, adoptive parents and kinship care providers to borrow. It is easy to check out an item from the library – call Sheri Rego at 360-647-6109 or 1-800-398-4079 or e-mail her at regs300@dshs.wa.gov , and she will mail the items to your home. When you are finished, either mail the item back to her, or return the item to your licensor to be mailed to her.  See their list here.

  •  Children's Hospital Department for Children with Special Needs has developed a care notebook for caregivers. It comes either as an expando file or three ring binder and includes over 30 forms to help keep the child's health care information organized. Check out http://www.cshcn.org/resources/CareNtbk.cfm  The notebooks can be ordered, one free per family. You can also download the complete notebook content or individual forms.

  • www.parenttrust.org - "Parent Trust for Washington Children" is a resource that may be useful to parents that provides support services through a toll-free phone number.  It can also be provided to families as part of an aftercare plan or a support when transitioning children from out of home placements.

    They provide tips on topics such as positive discipline, child development, behavior management, and surviving the teen years.  From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mon- Fri., parents can talk to a trained person to "get support during the difficult times every parent encounters."  (In some counties the agency has ongoing support groups.  There are none currently in Pierce County ).  However, they have referral information about local resources for families for basic needs, counseling, chemical dependency services, child care, legal help, pregnancy and youth services.
