This year Community & Family Services Foundation was shown how the holiday season brings out generosity, caring and kindness.  In today’s economy it may not be easy to reach into your pocket to give, but the following people have chosen to do so and have passed on the holiday spirit through their wonderful donations for our kids in care.

  • The WA-O Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders donated 56 items to be given to children who come into care just before Christmas.  Last minute placements can make it hard for foster parents to include children in their holiday celebrations and these donations will help. We know these gifts will make a difficult time a little easier for some of our children.  What an awesome group!

  • A 6th –Grade class at Kopacek Middle School in the Gig Harbor area has donated mittens and socks to help keep our kids warm this winter.  They also have given hand-made Christmas cards for each child in care.  This class has researched and presented information on Washington State’s foster children to other classes in their school.  They hope to continue their support throughout the school year.  This group of young people will truly make a difference!

  •   Frontier Bank in Bremerton has an incredible bunch of employees!  They contacted CFSF and asked how they could help foster kids during the holiday season.  Our Case Managers nominated children as possible recipients of gifts from the group.  In a short time CFSF received a call saying the employees had chosen to include all nominees and would be providing gifts for them all … at the employees’ own expense!

  •   Cascade Carpet Cleaners (former foster parents Tina and Jeff Robinson) have given a very generous cash donation to CFSF.  Their gift will be used to provide those extra special Christmas gifts not always affordable for foster parents.

  •   Sleep Country USA continues to support Washington State’s foster kids.  This year they have spearheaded several drives allowing donors to drop off school supplies, coats, shoes, toys and sports equipment.  They also continued their fun-filled Pajama Bowl fund raiser.  Their staff works incredibly hard to help support Washington’s foster families.
